“Chicago-based photographer Ian Dharma of Wedding Story Studio began taking photos of Joan and Chris’s wedding day at the Doubletree Hotel in Arlington, Illinois, where the bridal party was getting ready.

Since the wedding colors were primarily purple and silver, the bridesmaids all wore different styled short silver metallic dresses. Joan wore a long white lace gown with pink shoes that had a large flower on her ankles. Each of the women carried bouquets of dark purple chrysanthemums and light pink roses.

The ceremony was held at the historic Queen of All Saints Basilica church. The parish was founded in 1929, and the building was  designed by Meyer and Cook in a modernized Gothic style in 1960. Inside, the church features cathedral ceilings, stained glass windows and dark wood accents. Each pew was decorated with a white bow on the aisle, and white flowers sat on either side of the altar.

Afterward, the bridal party went with Ian to take pictures against the Chicago skyline. The bridesmaids and Joan each carried a brightly colored parasol for a pop of color. The groomsmen shot some serious pictures with the couple, but let loose in a few candid shots, cheering with the bridesmaids.

The reception was held at the Metropolis Ballroom, which was decorated with silver chairs, deep purple tablecloths, and floral centerpieces in white vases. Guests enjoyed a sit-down dinner and cake for dessert, with a few toasts given in between. Joan made sure to pack a pair of purple sneakers so that she could really let loose on the dance floor. Everyone took home a CD of the newlyweds favorite songs.”

“Chicago-based photographer Ian Dharma of Wedding Story Studio captured these fun and creative photos of Sahar and David’s wedding.

The couple got ready at Raffaello Hotel in Chicago. This four-star hotel features luxury rooms, a rooftop garden, a spa and a fine dining restaurant. David and his groomsmen relaxed in their suite with a few drinks, while Sahar’s bridal party helped her put the finishing touches on her outfit in their room.

Afterwards, the bridesmaids took a trolley to the ceremony at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. They each wore a long gray metallic dress and carried a bright yellow bouquet. Sahar’s bouquet was filled with white roses and orchids. Outside of the church, Ian took some really fun pictures of the bridal party and the couple against interesting backdrops.

The reception was held at Ravenswood Event Center in the Billboard Factory Atrium and Loft. Bright yellow flowers, thin branches and hanging votive candles decorated each tabletop, creating beautiful centerpieces. Guests enjoyed dancing and cocktails all night long.”

“Kristin and Jack’s for ceremony was held at Alverno College also in Milwaukee. The campus was very lush with color as Kristen walks to meet Jack just before the ceremony. However, nothing is as rich as the color palette…deep purples, blues and magenta pink not to mention that hot lime green streaking through. Bold and beautiful!

This couple is so much fun! On the way to their reception, they stop for some candid shots in a grocery store. The reception was held at the Milwaukee Museum of Art’s Quadracci Pavilion. The decor again featured bold colors, but that didn’t take away from the amazing postmodern architecture designed by Santiago Calatrava. This grand entrance hall was his interpretation of a gothic cathedral complete with a 90-foot-high glass roof!”

This was my first photo session that starts early in the morning.  It was a great idea – thanks Sherille and Christian – there was no traffic, there was nobody (except a few photographers who were taking sunrise photos), parking was easier, and the sunrise was amazing.  I think I would like to do it again .  Please enjoy some images from the session.  And, I’m looking forward to photograph Sherille and Christian’s wedding in the Summer.

It was around 60 degree in Chicago by the Museum Campus, but very windy … brrrr … … especially close to the lake.  That’s where Sewit and Yonas had their engagement session last weekend.  They are both from out of town, and their wedding in the Windy City is just around the corner, I can’t wait to work with them again.  They are a great couple who are very in love, that really shows in the images below.

We’d been trying to schedule an e-session for Alisa and Mike for a while, however, due to weather uncertainty, we couldn’t do it until last Sunday.  The weather was pretty good, I was hoping for less clouds, but sometimes it’s hard to control that kind of things.  We had a lot of fun, and got some really awesome shots.  Alisa and Mike – who are truly in love – were really enjoying the session and they made my job really easy.   Thanks guys, and I can’t wait to shoot your wedding in the Summer.

Nimi and Shibu were having Catholic Indian wedding ceremony and reception in Niles, IL.  We started the morning at Baha’i Temple, doing some shots with the bridal party, it was freezing .  We could only spend a few minutes outdoor and had to come back inside to warm up.  We accomplished what we wanted to do before the ceremony, and after that the rest of the day went more  smoothly.  The ceremony and reception were so beautiful, and fun + amazing … I love it .  You’ve got to see the present Nimisha’s brother gave them – at the very end of this blog post, awesome
